Different Types of Yoga and Yoga Schools

Which Yoga style is most suitable for me?

The purpose of doing any yoga exercises in Hatha is to calm and silence the mind.  It would be right to say that HathaYoga is the base for any kind of discipline dealing with the body, brain and mind system.

Nowadays yoga is becoming a fashion and multiple styles of yoga with many different names tag are coming up every day, such as hot yoga, nude yoga, divine yoga etc. For a common man to find out which yoga is most suitable for him has become quite a challenging decision to make.

The scenario of yoga is completely different now than what it was about fifty years back when the yogis are viewed as cave dwellers and yoga appeared to be some kind of magical cure. In now's time, yoga has become a tool of science and is accepted widely as an industry of alternative medicine in many countries.

Despite all the changes through the years and all the new versions of Yoga coming up every day, Hatha Yoga has always been the base for inducing any changes in the behaviour of mind and body.

The difference amongst various yoga schools and styles

Hatha can betranslated into English as force and efforts; the active and passive forces. The effort to bring tension and relaxation into the muscles, meridians or joints is primarily the teachings of hatha yoga. And the force can be applied tothe joints, skeleton structure, meridians, skin, muscles, internalvital organs of the body etc.

The main schools and styles of yoga such as Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Bihar School of Yoga, Sivananda yoga and many other schools, they differ a little bit in their methodology, sequences, and application to different age groups and physical condition of the practitioners, yet all of them primarily focuses on the same forces.

The application and use of Hatha Tantra methodology in now time:

Tantra as well is one of the most ancient practices of spiritualism used by Indian mystics to remain healthy and young until death. Some of the most subtle yet highest uses of this knowledge is to know how to merge individual consciousness with the universal consciousness, and how to experience liberation, expansive awareness and the presence of universal forces. Hatha Tantra methodology also brings desirable effect to the most subtle internal organs which are ego, intelligence, and consciousness.

Hatha-Tantra is most needed in today’s time for its applied forms. It primarily focuses on revitalising nervous system, as well as providing tools, techniques and insights into how to bring alignment into system, how to calm the mind, and how to remove any blocks of miscommunication and energy system. It also works on revitalisation of most important organs like heart, lungs, and kidney. In addition to brining softness and flexibility to the skeleton joints, it also addresses the endocrine system.

Other common issues such as backache or joint pain due to long sitting hours in office or driving, stress of survival and split between mind and body, insomnia and other psychosomatic issues can all be addressed by the rejuvenation methods of Hatha Tantra.
